Dr. Gilbert’s career has spanned over four decades, during which he has led research and development teams at global organizations such as Cargill, Bayer, and BASF. His track record includes overseeing the successful launch of hundreds of elite hybrid varieties in various major row crops, introducing the seed & trait industry’s first non-GMO seven-gene stack, developing the first engineered trait using site-specific mutation, introducing the first genetically modified trait featuring dual herbicide technology, plus the creation of the first 4-gene stack that combines insect and herbicide tolerance. Gilbert has led several global seed & trait business units and acquisition projects over the years. He continues to advise Ag-Tech start-ups and organizations. Dr. Gilbert has earned degrees at both Texas Tech and West Texas A&M Universities and has been recognized as a distinguished alumni at both schools.
